Dear
Parent/Guardian,
Your
child being placed at Dry Valley School may be stressful to you
because of the uncertainty of the situation. As a parent, I understand
your concerns. However, a change of school and peers sometimes
helps in what we all want for your child. We, as a school, strive
to fulfill the following goals:
1.We will care about your child.
2. We will dignify and respect
your child.
3. We will see that your child
has an academic program that he/she can be successful in.
4. We will provide a positive,
nurturing, and in as much as possible, a safe environment for
your child.
Your
child will come to us without any preconceived ideas: -
a clean slate- and
will be placed at Level 1, our top group, unless he/she is a repeat.
However, we are an Alternative School. It is said that we are
an "old-fashioned" school. We do expect our students
to maintain a level of dignity and responsibility. We cannot force
your child to change; that is up
to her/him but
kindness and caring will go a long way to help heal some large
wounds that we sometimes see.
You
or your child may disagree with some of our policies, including
the dress code. However, your child does not have to agree with
our policies to attend Dry Valley; he or she just has to comply
to attend. If
your
child violates these rules, THERE WILL BE
CONSEQUENCES! The sooner a child learns the reality of
the old proverb -"you reap what you sow", the better.
All
forms that have a place for your signature must be returned the
following day. The student may not be allowed to return to school
until we have ALL. forms.
We
also have a beautiful building; that wasn't always the case. Your
child will be expected to do her/his part in keeping it clean.
Any damage that is done will have to be paid for by the child
or parent.
Please
feel free to come and visit. We like to think of our school as
a "home away from home" and do hope we can work together.
